In the heart of the historic town of Nancy you can visit what is rated as one of five most beautiful squares in the world - Place Stanislas. Place Stanislas (originally known as Place Royale), was built between 1752 and 1760 and was the brainchild of an exiled king of Poland called Stanislas Leszczynski who became the Duke of Lorraine in 1737. The square was constructed to honour Stanislas's son-in-law - Louis XV of France.
